The mission of the United Church of God, an International Association, is to proclaim to the world the little-understood gospel taught by Jesus Christ—the good news of the coming Kingdom of God—and to prepare a people for that Kingdom. This message not only offers great hope for all of humanity, but encompasses the purpose of human existence—why we are here and where our world is headed.

Here are the Church’s specific Vison and Mission statements:

Vision of the United Church of God

A Church led by God’s Holy Spirit, joined and knit together by what every member supplies, with all doing their share and growing in love to fulfill God’s great purpose for humanity to bring many children to glory (Ephesians:4:16; Hebrews:2:10).

Mission of the United Church of God

The mission of the Church of God is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and the Kingdom of God in all the world, make disciples in all nations and care for those disciples.

These have been combined into the often-used Church motto: “Preaching the Gospel, Preparing a People.”

Preaching the Gospel

Following Jesus Christ's footsteps and example, we take seriously His command to preach the gospel, make disciples, baptize them and teach them everything that He commanded. The Church utilizes many public proclamation tools to help accomplish this all-important task.

Preparing a People

The Church is to teach and care for those whom the Father calls, preparing them for greater works of service to God, their families, their communities and their fellow human beings. This is the goal of our many programs and activities.
