Don’t try to take shortcuts in your education.

Educating the human mind is one of the noblest tasks on earth. We aren't born knowing how to read, write, calculate, design or draw. A good education provides us with the ability to benefit from the work others have done before us. But knowledge is no good unless we carefully seek it and use it properly. It takes hard work and character to develop good study and reading habits and to pay attention to details in what we read.

Not reading the instructions or the small print can cause us troubles. Men seem to be especially prone to try things before they read the instructions. As some unknown wit put it: "Education is what you get from reading the fine print. Experience is what you get from not reading it."
