United News: September - October 2014

All the campers had lots of fun and enjoyed engaging activities, building an amazing bond in “the Zone.”

We had 26 campers who enjoyed a very successful preteen camp in the Piney Woods of East Texas.

Stella Helterbrand began her role as the kitchen manager on Aug. 4.

In mid-June this year, 113 campers and 58 staff gathered at Camp Cotubic in Ohio.

Pre-teen Camp Buckeye in North Central Ohio continues to grow every year.

The New England congregations of the United Church of God hosted a Marriage Enrichment Workshop, May 31 and June 1.

Camp Pinecrest began on the afternoon of June 19 in Fredericktown, Missouri.

This year’s staff, both teens and adults, were outstanding and the teamwork and enthusiasm was at an all time high.

On the weekend of June 21-22, the Garden Grove, California, congregation was privileged to host a Marriage Enrichment Workshop presented by Randy and Kay Schreiber.

Hye Sierra is set on a beautiful and serene 160-acre camp located amidst the magnificent pines and regal redwoods of California’s Sequoia National Park.

This year’s Southwest preteen camp is coming up fast!

Camp Woodmen 2014 was a resounding success!

Camp provided many opportunities to build closer relationships and have fun together.

In an outstanding effort to raise funds to send local teens to UYC summer camps this year, the Portland/Vancouver congregation hosted a garage sale.

This was the largest Northwest teen camp in many years.

The 13th annual Labor Day Leadership Workshop was conducted in Cincinnati Aug. 29-Sept. 1.

For our second year in a row, the Colombia summer youth camp was held just outside of Santa Marta, Colombia, with 32 in attendance.

Camp Colorado was bursting with increased energy and enthusiasm as we nearly doubled in size from 2013.

The UCG Oklahoma City Speech and Leadership Club held its third annual ladies’ night banquet at Legend’s Restaurant in Norman, Oklahoma, March 8.

The 2014 edition of the Ghana camp was held at St. Thomas Aquinas Senior High School in Accra.

More than 50 campers ages 1–12 and more than 50 staff members and parents camped together for four days and three nights in the lovely woods of Pennsylvania.

What a wonderful way to spend a Memorial Day Weekend! People from the Phoenix, northern Arizona and Albuquerque congregations came together to enjoy God’s creation; and to fellowship by strengthening our brotherly bonds and learning together.
